Children in this class will learn that an engineer uses math, science and creativity to make and improve things we need. Engineers often work in teams to develop their ideas. We will explore the many types of engineers and what they build. Children will learn building concepts through challenges like building a sturdy wall, building the fastest racing car, building a container to protect marshmallows from being “squished” by a large book, as well as others.
This class uses Lego® educational products to develop children’s understanding of mechanical and structural engineering concepts. We will explore “simple machines” and how they make our work easier. Children will learn to construct models using gears, pulleys, levels and inclined planes. This class will allow children to create, learn and use their imagination as they build models such as rolling vehicles, spinning tops, cranes, planes and more.
